- How do I tell if a WhatsApp forward is fake? My family forwards health "remedies" and I panic every time
One more thing that's changed: AI-made images and voice notes can look very convincing now. So "I saw it with my own eyes" or "I heard his voice" is less reliable than it used to be. Look for odd hands, odd text in the background, voices that are too smooth. And still, the best check isn't the picture itself, it's whether a trustworthy source reported the same thing.

- Fridge door open makes the room hotter, COP of 9 seems odd, and fridge cooling lowers entropy. Does it break the second law?
ok so the 9 J isn't made, just moved. nice way to see it. COP is not efficiency

- Fridge door open makes the room hotter, COP of 9 seems odd, and fridge cooling lowers entropy. Does it break the second law?
Inside a real fridge: the compressor does the work W, and the refrigerant circulates. In the evaporator (inside, cold) it evaporates and absorbs $Q_2$. The compressor raises its pressure and temperature, and in the condenser coils at the back it gives out $Q_1$ to the room and liquefies. Then it passes through a narrow valve and the pressure falls again. So the warm coils at the back are literally $Q_1 = Q_2 + W$.

- Dropper on a budget: can I learn Python for free without wrecking my NEET prep?
Python 2 was retired a few years ago and a lot of it is different from Python 3, even `print` works differently (`print "hi"` in 2, `print("hi")` in 3). Use Python 3 and a recent tutorial. Free resources exist, the official docs have a beginner tutorial and there are plenty of free video series. Search for one made in the last couple of years.

- How to write your first blog post (from someone whose first one was spectacularly bad)
Does this apply to a technical post too, like explaining a project? I always write "In this tutorial, we will learn..." and then the post is dry.

- I tried to explain meme culture to my parents and it went... somewhere
I made a meme generator in Python last year: you give it a template image and two lines of text, and it draws the text in the classic white-with-black-outline font. About 20 lines of code with Pillow. The funniest part was explaining to my parents that I "programmed a joke". They asked how many people it employs.

- Naming alcohols that also have a double bond, and which common name is catechol, resorcinol or hydroquinone?
okay got it, -ol is the suffix so it's senior. wrote that seniority order in my notebook

- The worst study hacks I ever tried, written as memes you have to imagine
Tushar, I built a to-do app so I could track my study and then spent two weeks on the app. Same disease.

- Stamen types by family: Fabaceae, Cruciferae, Malvaceae, Compositae, Graminae, Solanaceae, Liliaceae, how do I keep them apart?
as a coder, the stamen words look like an enum to me: DIADELPHOUS, MONADELPHOUS, SYNGENESIOUS, TETRADYNAMOUS, EPIPETALOUS. then the families are just a lookup table. tanvi's table is basically that, lol

- Naming alcohols that also have a double bond, and which common name is catechol, resorcinol or hydroquinone?
I think double bond still has lowest number priority, since it's within the chain, and OH is just a substituent like in alkenes. So the first one is prop-1-en-3-ol like Riya wrote.

- Reading the news with a pencil: seven questions I ask before I believe a headline
Good list. For #3, how do you check a chart? I've seen charts in articles that look scary but I can't tell if they're honest.

- Want to start anime but every show seems to have 500+ episodes. Where do I begin?
update: watched the first 3 eps of Death Note. okay i get the fuss.

- I learned git in class 11 so my notes would stop being "final_final_v3_REAL"
git works with any file, but it only shows you readable line-by-line changes for plain text (Markdown, code, .txt). For Word it stores the whole file each time, so you can go back, but you can't see what changed inside. Markdown tables look like `| col1 | col2 |` and most note apps render them nicely.

- Rolling down an incline: why does friction not reduce the energy, and which shape reaches first?
Friction on a rolling body does reduce the energy, that's why it eventually stops, so mechanical energy shouldn't be conserved on a rough incline.

- I learned git in class 11 so my notes would stop being "final_final_v3_REAL"
no, different things. git = the tool on your computer. GitHub = a website that stores git projects online. Like how a camera is not the same as an Instagram account. You can use git without GitHub for your whole life.

- I learned git in class 11 so my notes would stop being "final_final_v3_REAL"
I am a proud teacher, my first student has made the exact "typed 3 instead of 1" mistake. A good habit, before any `reset --hard`, run `git status` and `git log --oneline` first so you can see what you're about to lose. And you did the right thing with reflog. Also when you get to merge conflicts, they look scary but it's just two versions of the same line with markers around them, you pick one 😄

- Why is chloroform kept in dark brown bottles filled to the brim, and what is phosgene doing in NCERT?
oh right, oxygen not evaporation. got it, thanks

- Want to start anime but every show seems to have 500+ episodes. Where do I begin?
thanks ishaan. death note is going on the list, i like the "rules" angle. is the dub actually good or should i do subtitles? i get lost reading and watching at the same time.

- Why is chloroform kept in dark brown bottles filled to the brim, and what is phosgene doing in NCERT?
I thought dark bottle is because chloroform is light sensitive and the brim part is so it doesn't evaporate out. Isn't that the reason?

wait how does the sister thing work, does she actually know the password and you can't ask her? i tried this once but i just found where my brother wrote it down lol

- The picture that made integration by parts stop feeling like a trick
not wrong, just going the wrong way. you would get x²/2 · e^x minus ∫ x²/2 · e^x dx, and that second integral is harder than what you started with. so you can't finish it by that route. swap the roles and x vanishes after one differentiation

- I deleted social media for 21 days. It wasn't a glow-up. It was boring, then it was fine.
ah right, colour != blue light. thanks Tushar. so grayscale for temptation, night mode for sleep. noted.

- Reading a progressive wave equation: how do I find direction, speed, wavelength, and what is particle speed?
Direction rule: look at the signs of the $x$ and $t$ terms inside the sine. **Opposite signs** ($kx - \omega t$ or $\omega t - kx$) mean the wave travels in $+x$. **Same signs** ($kx + \omega t$) mean it travels in $-x$. So yours is $+x$ direction; flipping the order only changes the overall sign of the whole function, like a phase shift of $\pi$, it doesn't change direction. Then: $v = \omega/k = 100/5 = 20$ m/s, $\lambda = 2\pi/k = 2\pi/5 \approx 1.26$ m, $f = \omega/2\pi \approx 15.9$ Hz. Quick check: $f\lambda = 15.9 \times 1.26 \approx 20$. ✓

I tried something similar with grayscale mode, since turning the screen black and white also cuts down on blue light, which helps with sleep. Not as drastic as deleting but it worked for me for a couple of weeks.

- I used an AI chatbot for my studies for a month. It never once said "I'm not sure."
that's exactly the thing, the fact you memorise from it gets stuck harder because it sounded so sure. thanks for sharing, "questions yes, facts no" is a good short version

- Projectile motion shortcuts: is H = R tanθ / 4 legit? and why do 30° and 60° give the same range?
For the 30°/60° question: range is the same, max height is **not**. Heights are $H_1 = \frac{u^2\sin^2 30°}{2g}$ and $H_2 = \frac{u^2\sin^2 60°}{2g}$. Ratio is $\frac{\sin^2 30°}{\sin^2 60°} = \frac{1/4}{3/4} = 1:3$. In general for complementary angles $\frac{H_1}{H_2} = \tan^2\theta$.

- Why do computers only use 0 and 1? Why not 0 to 9 like us?
it doesn't know by itself. The same bits can be read in different ways. The program tells it how to interpret them. If a text editor reads that byte, it shows A. If a calculator program reads it, it shows 65. You can try in Python: `chr(65)` gives 'A' and `bin(65)` gives '0b1000001'. Same thing, two views.

- 0.999... = 1?? sir said it in class and my brain refuses. Is there a way to actually see it?
Yes! Any number that ends in a terminating decimal has a second representation ending in infinite 9s. 0.5 = 0.4999..., 2 = 1.999.... The decimal system just isn't a one-to-one naming system. It's not weird, it's a quirk of how we write numbers, not of the numbers.
